Hendrie.2 William Hendrie married Hannah Lockwood, daughter of Gershom Lockwood and Mary Ferris.1,3 William Hendrie died on 21 October 1804 at Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, at age 58.1,2,3 He was buried at Tomac Road Cemetery, Old Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut; In/Memory of/William Hendrie/who departed this life/on the 21st Octr 1804/in the 59th Year of his age,/he was born/in the Brrom of Moy/Parish of Dike Scotland/on the 11th Decr 1745/Afflictions sore long time he bore/Physicians art were vain/Till God did please to give him ease/And free him from his pain./Sweet is the sleep that here he takes/Till in christ Jesus he awakes/Then shall his happy soul rejoice/To hear his blessed Saviour's voice.4
     He lived in 1774 at New York, New York; In response to an act of the Legislature directing that all buildings to be erected in the City of New York should be of stone or brick, covered with slate or tiles, a petition signed by nearly 3,000 persons (2977 by actual count) was presented to the governor on 2d May 1774 praying for a suspension of the act. The prayer of the petition was not granted.
